Do you know how simple it can be to find natural ways to lose weight? Although it may seem difficult from afar, there are loads of ways that you can lose the pounds without resorting to questionable solutions (diet pills, I’m looking at you!). For simple, natural and healthy ways to lose weight quickly, try these three steps:
1. Add Vegetables to Every Meal.
If you’re anything like me, you hate feeling deprived and restricted. One of the biggest reasons people put off making changes to their diet is this feeling of deprivation because, let’s face it, no one likes to feel like they can’t do what they want. Everybody wants freedom – whether it is to live the life they want or to eat the foods they want! The only problem is when this is when we are picking the wrong types of food to eat which actually cause our body harm.
But what about when the foods you love to eat love you back? As we all know, vegetables are the holy grail of health and weight loss, and if you enjoy eating them then you are well on your way to easy and natural weight loss. Think of all of the vegetables you love to eat (mushrooms, peppers, broccoli perhaps?) and ensure that every meal you eat has at least one kind of vegetable in it. Perhaps it is spinach with your toast, carrot sticks with lunch or a salad at dinner. Whatever you can add into your daily routine, do it. You will start filling up on nutritious, fat-burning foods without even noticing it – except perhaps in your waistline!
2. Watch Out for the Portion Size Monster.
Ah yes, the Portion Size Monster. We have all encountered this fiendish beast at one point or another, usually when we are famished and (let’s be honest) lacking in discipline. You load up your plate with food, being quite heavy-handed with the carbs, and sit down to dig in. Even if you told yourself you don’t have to eat it all if you don’t want to (or need to), you do. Every last morsel is gone, and is slowly but surely making their way into your fat stores. The Portion Size Monster is now satisfied!
Sound familiar? It does to me. Portion sizes are one of the most important variables in weight loss and natural health. I never used to realize just what an effect they can have on your weight – until I started paying closer attention and got astonishing results. When you think about it, it’s simple: calories in – calories out = weight loss (or not). If you are consuming more than you are working off, you will put on weight. And one of the easiest ways to do this is to go overboard with your portions.
Instead, start small and come back for more if you are still hungry. Keep your servings of meat and carbohydrates down, vegetables up (see above). I know this is hard when you’re hungry, but try to keep focused on the end goal and have a glass of water or an apple to tide you over if you’re flailing. Believe me, watching your portion sizes can have an incredible effect on your weight in a relatively short period of time. You can do this!
3. Pack Ahead.
When we are hungry and are faced with a gooey slice of chocolate cake, we are unfortunately much less likely to resist. This is natural human behavior and is to be expected. However, you can prevent this from happening by always (or often) being prepared with a natural, tasty snack that won’t give you excessive calories. By thinking ahead just a little, you can save yourself a lot of pain (and weight gain!) in the long run.
Where to start? The next time you are going to the shopping mall, take an apple or even prepare a wholemeal salad sandwich if you are going around lunchtime. Malls are a hotbed of unhealthy fast food options that can be difficult to resist after a long, hard day of shopping! Apples are great snacks to take as they are high in fiber, which will satiate your appetite without providing many calories, and they fit easily into your bag. Try to bring water with you as well, and you will find it much easier to resist unhealthy (and fattening) temptation.
